Black Thought Freestyles at Roots Picnic With Rick Ross and Benny The Butcher

Black Thought gave another legend-affirming performance at the 2022 Roots Picnic. The band's iconic frontman took the stage for the famed "Live Mixtape" showcase, and he was joined by Rick Ross and Benny The Butcher. While Rozay and Benny treated the crowd at Friedmont Park to their respective hits; it was Black Thought who took centerstage as he freestyled over some of their biggest songs, like "Jonny P's Caddy" and "Hustlin.'"

Black Thought's freestyles are the stuff of legend. His 2017 performance for Funkmaster Flex remains a fan favorite; and for this year’s Live Mixtape Showcase alongside J. Period, the veteran Roots MC was joined by special guests Rozay and The Butcher. He also freestyled over LL COOL J's "I Shot Ya."

It was announced last month that Black Thought is teaming up with superproducer Danger Mouse for their new collaborative album,Cheat Codes. The pair is also debuting the new single "No Gold Teeth," with a projected release date for the album of August 12.
