In the latest installment of Vevo's Footnotes series, Havoc of Mobb Deep shares behind the scenes tales from the filming and recording of their 1995 video and song, "Shook Ones II."
"I recall Prodigy being super focused and calmly-excited to work on The Infamous album," he explained. "He played the Shook Ones Pt. II demo months before it's release and I knew instantly that it would be a hit."
Havoc explained that the writing and recording process for "Shook Ones II" started in his childhood apartment in Queensbridge. "I made the beat there and we finished at a major recording studio," he said. "I produced it myself and Prodigy came up with the hook and lyrics."
Havoc also spoke about their ill-fated Island/4th & Broadway debut, 1993's Juvenile Hell. "There was no specific conversation [about "Shook Ones II"], but the assignment was clear, that we needed to redeem ourselves after releasing a failed album a year before."
