Following the release of his brand new single “Rev3nge,” Brooklyn rapper Joey Bada$$ has revealed he will be dropping a sequel to his breakout debut mixtape, 1999, with his third studio album, 2000. The album is set to release on June 17 via Columbia Records.

In preparation for the upcoming project, Bada$$ paid a visit to Hot 97 for Funk Flex’s Freestyle 181 radio show on Thursday (May 12).  The New York emcee returns to his signature style, reminiscent of the golden age era of Hip-Hop as he spits over the instrumental to Mobb Deep’s iconic 1995 track, “Give Up the Goods (Just Step)," produced by Q-Tip.

Bada$$ spits: “I’m back, I’m better than I ever been, took five years off, and somehow I’m relevant, trust these niggas don’t wanna see me in my element, and trust every room I step in, I’m the elephant.”

2000 arrives as the follow-up to the emcee’s critically acclaimed sophomore effort, All-Amerikkkan Bada$$, almost five years after its release. Bada$$ announced a 20-date North American tour with fellow New York artist Capella Grey, kicking off July 1 in Boston, MA, and ending in Los Angeles on July 28.

In a recent interview with XXL, the emcee revealed some of the producers that he worked with on his album. “I got my boys on there: Statik Selektah, Kirk Knight. I got a Cardo joint on there. I got a Mike WiLL [Made-It] joint on there. I’m supposed to be getting in with DJ Premier this week ’cause I told him I can’t complete this album if we don’t link up,” he said.
