Mannie Fresh and the Cool Kids are making an album together. While details about the project, including who might be featured, are scarce, the connection is an interesting one.

Mannie Fresh is, of course, one of the architects of southern Hip-Hop's post-97 sound, crafting most of the beats for Cash Money's dominant era in the late 90s and early aughts. He's also produced for David Banner, Toni Braxton, T.I., and Teena Marie (who had a brief stint on Cash Money before her untimely death in 2010), signifying his diversity.

As for The Cool Kids (Sir Michael Rocks and Chuck Inglish), they made their mark during the blog era alongside other up-and-coming acts at the time like Mickey Factz, Pac Div, Blu, Pill, and CyHi the Prince. They released a few singles that earned them a big buzz, including "Black Mags” and “Mikey Rocks” and dropped their official debut independently in 2011, When Fish Ride Bicycles. Their follow-up arrived years later in 2017, Special Edition Grandmaster Deluxe. Over the years, the Chicago duo has worked with everyone from Travis Barker to Freddie Gibbs, the Alchemist, Larry June, and more. Their most recent album, Before Shit Got Weird, arrived in March.
