Jasmine Dumile, the widow of rap legend MF DOOM has provided TMZ with a statement that claims Eothen "Egon" Alapatt is in possession of DOOM's handwritten book of rhymes.

According to Dumile, there have been many attempts to retrieve the book even before his passing in October 2020. "We had hoped after DOOM transitioned Egon would do the right thing and return the books to the family but he has continued to ignore these requests," she said. "Egon is not the only former associate abusing the likeness, art, and life's work of DOOM."

She failed to name the associate, promising to say more at an appropriate time. Egon owns Now Again records and is the business partner of former DOOM collaborator, Madlib.

Last week, rapper and podcaster Talib Kweli accused Egon of a bevy of charges, including the theft of DOOM's scrolls.

"One day the Hip-Hop community is going to have to discuss what a lying, stealing, conniving culture vulture Eothen Apalatt AKA Egon of Now Again Records is," Kweli said on IG. He then accused Egon of taking advantage of Black artists and attempting to block the release of Black Star's No Fear Of Time album.

"We need to discuss how he uses the money he steals from iconic hip hop artists to buy up catalogs of unsuspecting older Black artists and then hordes the music so that he can decide what gets sampled and what doesn’t depending on how much money he personally makes off of music he doesn’t create," Talib said. "But today all I want to know is why Egon stole MF DOOM rhyme book and refuses to give it back to DOOM family, even after DOOM passed away. MF DOOM officiated this man's wedding FOR FREE, but then later stopped rocking with him because of his devil ways ...The era of the culture vulture is OVER.”
