Rakim has suggested a collaboration with Will Smith after a recent IG post where Will recounted how he purposely mimicked Ra's voice for his 1991 hit "Summertime". Will shared with Rakim last year during A Grammy Salute To Hip-Hop: "I absolutely was trying to sound like you on 'Summertime'".

Will shared more details about the creation of the seasonal anthem on yesterday (7/23) on IG. "I went to lay [the vocals], and I had been screaming all night and couldn't get my happy go lucky high voice," he shared. "Hula said just gimme that Rakim shit," he said further.

Rakim appeared in the comments of yesterday's IG post: "Peace Will !! Keep rockin bro ,it’s time for SUMMERTIME PT 2 wit me on it !!!! lol" Rakim has been busy as of late, preparing for his upcoming album God's Network, his first fully produced project, which also features Ra providing the scratches.

Rakim mentioned new upcoming projects, and the desire to release new music in a recent exclusive interview with Rock The Bells. "Right now I'm working on a couple of projects," he revealed. "I'm working on an album and some solo projects on the side. I'm actually taking a lot of time form touring this year to do some studio work. I have a lot I wanna say, and I wanna get back into the studio and express myself."
