Seeking to represent the culture authentically in a way that resonates with diverse audiences, Rock The Bells connected Brooklyn’s Savant Studios with Visa to create some truly unique pieces for the Team Visa athlete community as a one-time gift. “I’m always interested in things that have staying power,” says Savant Studios founder, Michael Graham.

Savant Studios, a store, community, and creative hub on Brooklyn's Fulton Street is on the pulse of culture. The resulting collection, naturally, is one that that celebrates Hip-Hop’s global impact at the intersection of sports, fashion, and luxury. “I created this exclusive collection for the Team Visa athletes for what they could be wearing off the field,” Graham says.

Starting from Hip-Hop’s roots with Breaking — spurred by early DJ’s who isolated specific sections of the record (the break) - Savant Studios aimed to combine luxury, the legacy of Hip-Hop, and the fact that Breaking is making its debut in Paris.

The capsule collection includes items like a Leather Vest, Silk Scarf, Short Sleeve Tee, Long Sleeve Tee, Reworked Vintage Sweats with Tracksuit Pant additions, Savant Studios Trucker Cap, a Savant Weekend Tote, and Customized Pins. Collectively, it pays homage to styles of yesteryear when the B-boy and B-girl were block superstars.

“People want something that is more accessible,” he says. “They still want craftsmanship. They still want fly. They still want to be special. But they want to feel what they know.” As a part of the collaboration, Visa and Rock The Bells organized a preview in Paris of the collaboration — with Team Visa athletes representing a number of different sports — like Breaking, surfing, skateboarding, and wheelchair tennis. “I don’t want to just be the best in the world, I want to be the best for the world,” says Costa Rican surfer, Brisa Hennessy.

For Graham, seeing the athletes in his gear really highlighted the mission that Savant Studios, Visa, and Rock The Bells aimed to capture. “Creating...I want all of my pieces to have soul in them,” Graham says. The content series showcasing the entire collaboration process will be available on the Rock The Bells YouTube channel.

The series will feature five Team Visa athletes, including Jose Pablo Gil (Tennis; Costa Rica), Brisa Hennessy (Surfing; Costa Rica), Shigeyuki Nakarai (B-Boy/Breakdancing; Japan), Samuel Tanner (Track & Field; New Zealand), and Maria Jose Rojas (Skateboarding; Chile).
