Some of the biggest songs from the Death Row catalog are missing from Apple Music and Spotify. The Chronic, Doggy Style and Dogg Food are all missing from the major digital streaming platforms as pointed out last week on a HipHopHeads group on Reddit and according to Hip Hop DX. Social media users immediately blamed Snoop Dogg’s acquisition of Death Row Records and his intent to make it an NFT label for the missing songs. “First thing Snoop does as owner of Death Row Records is drop an amazing album. Second thing he does is take all past Death Row albums off of streaming services. Bad business move. NFT’s suck” wrote one Twitter user. “If they move all the Death Row records to the metaverse or make them NFT’s or some stupid shit like that I hope it fails miserably” wrote another.

Snoop’s Death Row acquisition has been clouded in public confusion since he announced it on February 9th of this year. Snoop clarified the components of his ownership with Tidal’s Wilson recently which caused even more confusion after he made the claim that he owned Dr Dre’s  The Chronic. The claim led Dr. Dre’s attorney Howard King to issue a statement on March 6th that Dr. Dre owns 100 percent of The Chronic.

While an overwhelming number of social media users blame Snoop for the missing music, some are a bit more merciful suggesting that perhaps the music in question is undergoing license transfers in light of the new ownership. The saga continues.
