The Game Releases "Violence" Produced By Hit-Boy; Delays 'Drillmatic'

On Tuesday (June 21) The Game released The Hit-Boy produced "Violence" in the wake of the delay of his long-awaited album Drillmatic. The mid-tempo track is a head-nodder, with The Game paying homage to his west coast contemporaries and lyrically flexin' over a string-heavy Hit-Boy backdrop.

The original Drillmatic release date was June 24, but The Game nonchalantly changed it to the beginning of July while addressing Rolling Stone's Top 200 Greatest Rap Albums list.

"@Rolling Stone how is The Documentary not on the list for 200 Greatest Rap Albums Of All Time?", Game questioned on social media. "I carried an entire coast for 20 years on the back of my 1st album. Cause I don't walk red carpets, play dress up, smile or fake laugh at brunches I don't count? #Drillmatic July 1st."

The Game has made music news quite a bit this year, first claiming that he should have been a performer at the Dr. Dre themed Super Bowl LVI halftime show along with Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. The Game has also called out Eminem several times this year, suggesting to N.O.R.E. on Drink Champs that he would win a Verzuz against the Detroit rapper. Last week, The Game doubled down on his feelings about being excluded from the Super Bowl halftime show.
