The Soul Rebels have announced that they will be joined by a few Hip-Hop legends during their four day September residency at the Blue Note New York.
Rakim and Big Daddy Kane along with host/comedian Tony Woods will join the Soul Rebels on Sept. 21, while Ja Rule will perform on Sept. 22. G-Eazy will hit the stage on Sept. 23 and a star-studded jazz musician line up of Louis Cato, Ray Angry, Elena Pinderhughes and James Carter will take place on Sept. 24.
Drummer and band co-founder Lumar LeBlanc spoke of what the opportunity means for band. “Performing a Blue Note Jazz Club residency is the holy grail of artistic experiences for our band," he said. "This opportunity brings together our favorite artists including our long-time friends and collaborators Rakim and G-Eazy and marks our debut performances with Big Daddy Kane and Ja Rule. This Blue Note engagement is truly monumental within our career and in culture. We are going big this year for the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop."
The eight-piece New Orleans-based brass ensemble will perform at Blue Note as part of their three-week Fall Northeast Tour. The Soul Rebels are known for their incredible artistic collaborations, having recently performed at the Blue Note Jazz Festival in Napa, where they took the stage along with icons such as Nas, Rakim, Rapsody and Keyon Harrold.
