Wyclef has been announced as joining the Harlem Festival of Culture (HFC). The HFC shared this week that the star has been named the Chair of the Music Advisory Board for the festival.

Jean is expected to spearhead artist recruitment within the Harlem community and the musician will serve as an advisor to the HFC executive management group.

“I am thrilled to join HFC as Chair of their Music Advisory Board,” Wyclef said via statement. “On a personal note, Harlem has always held a special place in my heart as I have performed there very early in my career and throughout.”

“As a creative who is also an entrepreneur, I’m all about creating opportunities for creatives and professionals in our community," Jean also stated. "And when I heard about this reimagining of what was such a seminal milestone in Black creativity and Black music, I knew I wanted to be involved in some way.”

The Harlem Festival Of Culture was famously the subject of Questlove's Oscar-winning documentary, Summer Of Soul (…Or, When the Revolution Could Not Be Televised). After being hailed at the Sundance Film Festival and following weeks of positive buzz, the movie premiered in July 2021 on Hulu and offers a glimpse into that heady summer, with performances from legendary artists like Nina Simone, Stevie Wonder and Sly & The Family Stone.
