The incident immediately broke the internet, prompting reactions from fans and fellow celebrities, who were in absolute shock after witnessing the jaw-dropping altercation. One fan recalled Chris Rock’s 2016 Oscar monologue, where he also took shots at Pinkett for her lack of box office roles in recent history, suggesting that Will’s actions were premeditated. 

“Jada said she’s not coming, protest. I was like, ‘Isn’t she on a TV show?’ Jada’s going to boycott the Oscars? Jada boycotting the Oscars is like me boycotting Rihanna’s panties. I wasn’t invited!” the comedian joked during his opening monologue.
