Marsha Ambrosius updated fans about the status of her long awaited Dr. Dre-produced album at this year's Soul Train Awards. The British soul singer participated in a "Soul Cypher" that included Arin Ray, Nicci Gilbert, and Eric Bellinger where she made the announcement.

"Check out the credits, Dr. Dre," she said. "That Casablanco on the way, a brand new classic about to hit."

Earlier this year ,at a listening party for the album, Dre revealed that it started with plans to create music for him and morphed into her project.

"The way it started out was she actually flew down to work on some songs for me," he said. "I said let's work on three or four songs for you, and that turned into an entire album over a two-week period."

At the same listening party, Marsha announced that she was exchanging ideas with Dre at the end of 2020, but his brain aneurysm in January of 2021 left the fate of the project in question.

"I get a call from Dre by February of 2021, and I was out working with him," she recounted. "His rehabilitation and resurgence back into wanting to make music to make people feel good was what I needed, and ultimately what he needed. This album was out trauma bond in some way."
