Remy Ma recently spoke to Rock The Bells about her recent collaboration with Rapsody and DJ Premier, "Remy Rap." The track, which is featured Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack, just received video treatment last week, with visuals directed by Maya Table.

"Premier is one of the most respected producers in Hip-Hop," Remy said. "He's like family. I go over to his studio, hang out, order food — he pays for it. It's a wonderful thing!"

Remy also spoke about the embryonic stages of "Remy Rap," saying that the concept morphed once the verses were laid.

"When he came to me with the idea of working on a project — which he's never done in all his years in the industry he's never put out an album — he had this idea for me and Rapsody," she remembered. "Actually it was supposed to be three girls at first, but when I did my verse and then Rap did hers, and it came out so crazy, we just left it like that. It was dope, and it was actually the first time I've done a record with another female rapper outside of just a chorus or whatever. We just did the video and it should drop right around the birthday of Hip-Hop."

In addition to Remy and Rapsody's single, Hip Hop 50: The Soundtrack features new music from Run the Jewels and Joey Bad A$$ as well as collaborations between Slick Rick and Lil Wayne.

“It’s an honor to kick off this iconic Hip-Hop 50 music program,” DJ Premier shared. “Hip-Hop continues to inspire fans across the globe and it’s incredible to think of what the next 50 years will bring.”

The project is the first installment in Mass Appeal's The Soundtrack Series, which celebrates 50 years of Hip-Hop, and will include a total of 10 EPs curated by Swizz Beatz, Mustard, The-Dream, Mike Will Made-It, No I.D., Hit-Boy, and others.
